PHNOM PENH, 7th December 2020–With the common objective to promote local products and safe food, Davane Plc and ADRA Cambodia have agreed to collaborate under a 3-year MoU.
The MoU is to facilitate building a structured effective model producer-buyer relationship between the Pursat agriculture Producer Groups supported by the Pro-Market project and the Davane Plc that ensure quality production of vegetables that match growing market demand for locally produced safe foods.
This MOU is effective as of today and has been signed and executed by the duly authorized representatives of the parties to this MOU, and will be in effect until December 31, 2023.
ADRA – Adventist Development & Relief Agency (Cambodia), ADRA’s holistic integrated approach to programming is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aiming to bring wellbeing in the lives of the women, men, and children we serve. ADRA believes that people have been created to thrive in the plurality of their dimensions – physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual – and that wellbeing constitutes the process of living these out to the full. Through community-based programming, ADRA seeks to establish this holistic wellbeing. This involves designing and implementing sustainable, community-led projects that support each of the 17 SDGs, with three of those being core to the collective work of ADRA: SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
Currently, ADRA, with technical support from International Development Enterprises iDE, is supporting farmers within 5 districts of Pursat province under the 5-year program “Sustainable Produce to Market Value Chain Enhancement project (Pro-Market) with interventions until December 2023. The project is promoting value chain of vegetable and fruit commodities by working with small holder farmers. The goal of program is to sustainably grow the rural economy and household economic resilience in Pursat through enhancing value chains. The project seeks to support “Producer Groups” who will work collaboratively to meet the emerging market demands through contract farming. The project has three key outputs 1) Market and value chain analysis and strengthening, 2) Producer group strengthened and developed, 3) Producer group members & households trained/supported in production, post-harvest, and agri-business. The Pro-Market project is funded with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) of the government of New Zealand.
Davane – Develop Agriculture Value Chain Network for Economic and Environment is an emerging local private company committed to principles of food safety by building sound and actional food safety system to bring safe food to every home and therefore protect our customers from food-born illness especially their kinds – our next generation. We believe that we can achieve the mission only when (first) we are able to work out and enhance food safety system (second) apply this unique safety system capability in the principles of responsible free marketing context influenced by the target market segment (third) build ecosystem of sustainable supplies through selection of right producers and (fourth) involve and engage with other key stakeholders including government and development agencies in a coordinated wholistic approach to achieve untapped leverage and finally (firth) put enough investment in to increasing awareness about food safety and how important it is for well-being of consumers and producers alike. Davane has started its business since mid-2019 with rice commodity then expand to other commodities in the food categories including vegetables, meats (chicken, pork, beef etc), seafood, fruit, and groceries.
Davane is operating a safe food store with a quality control system and equipped modern facilities to ensure hygiene practices. Davane has key principles including safe food for consumers, the livelihood of the producer group, and environmentally friendly. Davane is keen to work with smallholder farmers and groups and support them from the standpoint of business and market needs.
