Preah Vihear, 3 March 2026<\/strong> \u2013 ADRA Cambodia, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and with the support of Preah Vihear Provincial Administrations, convened a Local Project Partner Consultative Workshop<\/strong> to officially begin the implementation of the STRONGER Project \u2013 <\/strong>STRONGER, Resilient Health Systems 4 SRHR<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>

The STRONGER Project<\/strong> aims to enhance the equal enjoyment of sexual and reproductive health and rights for adolescent girls and women (AGW), particularly those affected by or at risk of gender-based violence (GBV), including child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM). Implemented in Cambodia, Kenya, and the Philippines, the project focuses on:<\/p>

  1. Increasing the use of quality GBV-focused health services<\/li>
  2. Strengthening community-led rights protection for AGW<\/li>
  3. Improving multi-sectoral health system responses to GBV<\/li><\/ol>

    The project is funded by Global Affairs Canada<\/strong> and ADRA Canada and implemented by ADRA Cambodia<\/strong>, with a total investment of CAD $4,537,047 (USD $2,949,008), and runs from March 1, 2025, to September 30, 2031<\/strong>.<\/p>

    In Cambodia, the STRONGER Project will reach 38,672 direct beneficiaries<\/strong>, including adolescents and adults, while strengthening the capacity of 1,563 duty bearers across Preah Vihear and Stung Treng provinces, covering 5 districts, 35 communes, 25 public health facilities, 35 police posts, and 143 target villages.<\/p>

    The consultative workshops brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Provincial Health Department, Provincial Department of Women\u2019s Affairs, Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response actors such as health workers from public and private sectors, commune authorities, police, and rights holders.<\/p>

    Ms. Gracia Wenas, Representative of ADRA Cambodia, said: <\/strong>\u201cThe STRONGER Project supports Cambodia\u2019s efforts to strengthen health systems, address gender-based violence, and advance national priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Strong collaboration with government and community partners is essential to achieving these goals.\u201d<\/p>

Dr. Kuong Lo, Director of the Preah Vihear Provincial Department of Health<\/strong>, stated: \u201cThe Provincial Department of Health is committed to working closely with ADRA and partners to strengthen reproductive health services and improve responses to gender-based violence, particularly in remote areas of the province.\u201d<\/p>

Pang Ravi, Deputy Governor of Preah Vihear Province<\/strong>, emphasized: \u201cStrong collaboration across sectors is essential to raise awareness, promote girls\u2019 health, and prevent early marriage and school dropout. We fully support the implementation of this project to improve community well-being.\u201d<\/p>

    The workshop was held in Krong Preah Vihear, Preah Vihear Province on 3 March 2026, following a similar workshop conducted in Stung Teng on 25 February 2026.<\/p>

    A total of 57 participants attended the workshop in Preah Vihear. The workshop focused on project orientation, alignment with national strategies, annual work planning, identification of key challenges faced by AGW, and strengthening ownership among GBV response actors.<\/p>
