Stung Treng, February 25, 2026 – ADRA Cambodia, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and with the support of Stung Treng Provincial Administrations, convened a Local Project Partner Consultative Workshop to officially begin the implementation of the STRONGER Project – STRONGER, Resilient Health Systems 4 SRHR.
The STRONGER Project aims to enhance the equal enjoyment of sexual and reproductive health and rights for adolescent girls and women (AGW), particularly those affected by or at risk of gender-based violence (GBV), including child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM). Implemented in Cambodia, Kenya, and the Philippines, the project focuses on:
- Increasing the use of quality GBV-focused health services
- Strengthening community-led rights protection for AGW
- Improving multi-sectoral health system responses to GBV
The project is funded by Global Affairs Canada and ADRA Canada and implemented by ADRA Cambodia, with a total investment of CAD $4,537,047 (USD $2,949,008), and runs from March 1, 2025, to September 30, 2031.
In Cambodia, the STRONGER Project will reach 38,672 direct beneficiaries, including adolescents and adults, while strengthening the capacity of 1,563 duty bearers across Preah Vihear and Stung Treng provinces, covering 5 districts, 35 communes, 25 public health facilities, 35 police posts, and 143 target villages.
The consultative workshops brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Provincial Health Department, Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs, Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response actors such as health workers from public and private sectors, commune authorities, police, and rights holders.
Ms. Gracia Wenas, Representative of ADRA Cambodia, said: “The STRONGER Project supports Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen health systems, address gender-based violence, and advance national priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Strong collaboration with government and community partners is essential, and this workshop marks an important starting point for shared learning and partnership.”

Dr. Ung Soviet, Director of the Stung Treng Provincial Department of Health, stated: “We appreciate ADRA Cambodia’s initiative in implementing the STRONGER Project. Although the project currently focuses on one district in Stung Treng province, the Provincial Department of Health remains committed and ready to support its effective implementation.”

H.E. Sy Suon, Deputy Governor of Stung Treng Province, expressed his support, saying: “The Provincial Administration warmly welcomes and fully supports the STRONGER Project. ADRA Cambodia is a valued development partner contributing to the health and well-being of girls and women and to the promotion of gender equality in our province.”

The workshop was held in Krong Stung Treng, Stung Treng Province on February 25, 2026 and will also take place in Krong Preah Vihear, Preah Vihear Province on March 03, 2026.
A total of 62 participants including 32 females attended the workshop in Stung Treng today. The workshop focused on project orientation, alignment with national strategies, annual work planning, identification of key challenges faced by AGW, and strengthening ownership among GBV response actors.
